3-4 years later I still got that same feeling every time I thought about the test. So after finished up my final classes I rounded up literally thousands of pages of study materials and I got to work. In July after I booked a ticket to visit my sister in Phily for Aug 23. I decided to set a goal to take the test Aug 19. Little did I know how complicated it would be to register for the stupid test!
1- Spent over an hour and talked to 9 different people from both DOPL and ASWB... since they changed the way to register at the begining of July both agency's referred me to the other agency.
2- Filled out a 22 page application for DOPL- paid $120
3-Waited for a letter from DOPL approving me to register with ASWB
4-Called ASWB to schedule a test, after spending 20 min on the phone giving her all my information she told me I was only approved to take the Bachelor's level test...RRR!! AND by the time everything came through there would be no way that I would be able to take the test on the 19th- meaning I would have to take it after my trip to Phily- meaning I would be studying the whole time...
5-Called DOPL and told them they approved me for the wrong test, they said that they must have clicked the wrong box and I needed to wait a day or two for it to be corrected
6-Called ASWB re-registered with them- paid $260
7-Wait for a letter of approval from ASWB to take the test
8-Letter came a few days later (lucky- my friends got lost in the mail for a few weeks) and I called and the had a test available on the 19th! It was truly a miracle!!! (one of my friends had to wait 2 weeks for an available test)
9- Be at the testing center at 8:30 am (I showed up at 8:00)
10-Take the test- 4 hours- 170 problems (only 150 of which really count)
In order to pass you must get 105 of the questions right- if you don't pass all the steps must be repeated (including the $260)
I can say I have never been more anxious for a test in my life, but at the same time I can say that after TONS of studying I felt like there wasn't much more for me to do...that and I have never been more sick of studying in my life! I debated whether to tell people but I decided that I needed their prayers and support. My parents fasted with me the week leading up to the test and my sweet sister called and entered my name on the prayer list on multiple Temples. My friends and family were a great support, I felt their prayers and was grateful. I was amazed at the feeling of peace I went into the test with. Yes- I was still more anxious than ever, but I also knew it would all work out. (I had a back of plan in place in case I didn't pass- just because i'm me and need to plan out every possible situation).
I took my time during the test- finishing after three and a half hours. As I neared the end of the test my heart started pounding- I swear the other guy in the room could hear it as well! After you submit the test they make you take an evil 10 question satisfaction survey. Not nice. Than the next screen I saw was full of little writing...I frantically looked to figure out what my score was (I was expecting it to say FAIL in huge blinking letters)... they are cruel to make you search....and it said... Pass. I started crying and gasping for air, the guy behind me probably thought I had a heart attack. Best. Day. Ever.
